What is CRISPR

  Genome editing (also called gene editing) is a group of technologies that give scientists the ability to change an organism's DNA. These technologies allow genetic material to be added, removed, or altered at particular locations in the genome. Several approaches to genome editing have been developed. A recent one is known as CRISPR-Cas9, which is short for clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats and CRISPR-associated protein 9. The CRISPR-Cas9 system has generated a lot of excitement in the scientific community because it is faster, cheaper, more accurate, and more efficient than other existing genome editing methods.  Welcome to my page! I am an older student, who decided to come back to grad school (after 15 years of graduation) I have an MS degree from University of Louoisiana Monroe, I lived in southern united states most of my life, I was born in Egypt and lived in New York for a while before I moved to Lousiana then moved to Texas. I am married with two kids! I love science, and enjoy being a student in this time of my life, I believe that I have an inspiring story. I appreciate everything about UNTHSC, its an amazing campus and I love all the professors, they are very helpful and nice. Sam
